During this unit, students build upon knowledge of value, form and drawing from observation in order to create self portraits. Special attention is given to proportion and how to use units of measurement to create symmetry. In addition, students are prompted to understand the relationship between light and dark values to create the illusion of form and feature. The ending result are pieces that accurately represent the student while expressing a mood or idea.
